This is another one of my favourite cover versions.
Rachid Taha's Arabic version of Rock the Casbah was released in 2005. It is reported that Rachid, a huge Clash fan, was so keen to get the Arabic translation right, that he employed an Arabic professor to make sure that the new lyrics were as close as possible to those that were originally written by The Clash.
Despite the original being written in 1982, a song depicting the uprising of the people against dictators seems rather appropriate here in 2011.
